You’re Hired - A Nantwich Education Partnership Initiative

Every year , Year 5  embark on an exciting entrepreneurial journey to launch their own Business right here at St Annes  School. After being set the challenge to start up a business with just £5, an array of recycled products and the usual St Annes students energy, enthusiasm and imagination, the competition begins.

The students are divided into teams of five or six,  each tasked with the challenge of a business start-up.  The students are then required to ‘apply’ for a position within the business. Task range from, Managing Director, Secretary, Researcher, Advertising and Finance.

The task set develops a number of the students skills; feeding team spirit and promoting innovation  is the aim of the game and along the way the students may even make a profit to be donated to a charity of their choice.

The children learn to set up a business including Naming, Branding, Marketing, designing a Logo and product design.  The students interact throughout and come up with some great ideas and questions.

The children continue to build up their business's and make and market their product. The class organise a 'Market Day' when guests are invited to purchase the products.  All profits go to a charity of the children's choice.

The local Roatary clubs help out by providing local business men and women to act as 'Dragons' , who the children present their business concept to.  A winning team is chosen to go forward to the Nantwich Education Partnership Business Entrepreneur final, where they compete with teams from other Primary schools in Nantwich.

This whole scheme is a great way to develop the children's communication, maths and literacy skills in a real life scenario. It helps them understand some of the issues faced by businesses and is part of the way that we prepare our children for the future.
