Welcome Back
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Welcome to the new school year. I hope that you have had a happy and safe holiday. A very warm welcome to all our new pupils and their families, we hope that you settle quickly into school life and enjoy your time here at St. Anne’s. We very much look forward to seeing the children on Monday 5th.
Please remember that school starts at 8.55am, and ensure that your child is on time, so that lessons can commence promptly at 9am after registration. Doors will open from 8.45am. School finishes promptly at 3.15pm. Children who are not collected by 3.20pm will be brought to the office and parents will be asked to sign in the late book.
The term will be a very busy one with lots of learning and activities planned for the children. I have attached a list of key dates for this term. Dates will be added to this list but we will try to give as much notice as possible for whole school events.
All the events are also now on our website calendar which you can also see via the School Spider App. This will keep you informed about what is happening and when. We will also endeavour to update the website with news and celebrations which can also be accessible via the app. Download the app here for iphones:

Community Hub
You may have noticed the brand new building by the front of school, our new community hub! We are delighted that it’s nearly completed. There will be an official opening of the hub in the coming weeks where we hope to invite Bishop Mark to bless the hub and invite the press to come along. The hub will be used by St. Anne’s children and staff during the school week, and can be hired out for private events in the evening and at weekends. More information will be sent to parents once all the details have been finalised. A huge thank you to anyone who has donated to the community hub appeal. It really is an asset to school and will serve the children of St. Anne’s and our local community now, and for years to come.
Classrooms
Some changes have been made to classrooms this year with a few year groups being moved. Y3 and Mrs James have been moved to the old Y6 classroom so they are next to Y2, Year 4 will stay in their old Year 3 classroom with Miss Ratcliffe, Year 6 are now in the old Y4 classroom with Mrs Catchpole. All other classes remain the same.
Y3 are to enter their classroom by the corridor door (next to Y2 on the playground) whilst work continues on the community hub. All other classes, including Reception, are also to access their classrooms via the main playground.
Health & Safety
I would like to remind you that you are not allowed to smoke in or on the school premises, which includes the school’s playgrounds and field. With the exception of guide dogs, dogs are not permitted on the school grounds, even those who are carried.
For the safety of the children please do not park in the yellow boxes outside school. This area needs to be kept clear at all times for emergency access. Please be extra cautious when driving in the area around school and be considerate of our neighbours.
We have had a boundary fence installed over the summer holidays surrounding our field for safeguarding purposes. We are extremely pleased that this work is now complete.
Over the coming weeks, Nursery will be upgrading their outdoor area flooring so workmen will be present. Please ensure that, as you drop off and pick up, your children do not access the area whilst work is carried out.
The trim trail is due to be upgraded in October as at the moment it is not safe to use. Please ensure that the children do not use this equipment during drop off and pick up until it has been made safe.
Sweets and treats
A letter will have been sent to you regarding a child with severe allergies who is beginning school with us on Monday. To safeguard this child, and other children with allergies, we have taken the decision to not allow sweets, cakes or treats sent into school for birthdays. Please support us on this matter.
Please ensure that your child has a healthy snack for morning break time or has purchased a snack from the kitchen. Fruit will be available to all children. The children do not need a snack in the afternoon and can have a piece of fruit if they are peckish.
Addresses/Telephone Numbers
Please complete the forms that will be sent to you with updated addresses, phone numbers etc. It is essential that we hold all correct and up to date contact details.
PTA
St Anne’s PTA (FOSA) is a small but active group of parents who work to support the life of the school as well as raise valuable funds. This term they will organise Bedtime Stories, a non-uniform day, family bingo and a Christmas Disco. More information will be sent to parents with info on how to volunteer to help out if you are available.
Thank you for your continued support and the staff and I look forward to a hard-working, successful year ahead.
Yours Sincerely,
N. Ferguson
Headteacher
